The wife of Senator Lito Lapid was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada for dollar smuggling. This happened last year when Mrs. Marissa Lapid went to the United States and was questioned at the airport when she only declared $10, 000 as her pocket money. When her bag was opened, it was found out that she had another $40, 000 in it. The US authorities then arrested her. Senator Lito Lapid said that he knows that his wife knows about the money but she did not know that it has a case at the country for not declaring the right amount. Senator Lapid said that his wife went there for the heart operation his wife would be undergoing. Mrs. Lapid had already paid the fine and is temporarily outside from jail. She is currently staying at their relatives place right now. It was found out that the minimum punishment of it is an imprisonment of five (5) years. Meanwhile, Negors Occidental Rep. Ignacio ‘Iggy” Arroyo, Jr.was reported to have died in London. The First Gentleman Mike Arroyo said that the life- support systems were removed last Thursday. Nobody still does not know the real status since media men were not allowed to enter the hospital premises since it is a private ground. The wife of Iggy also said that she has to wait for the confirmation from London of what had really happened. The younger Arroyo went to London last year to seek treatment for a liver ailment. He was listed as one of the lawmakers with the most number of absences in the House of Representatives for 2011. He earlier told ABS-CBN News last December that he had to stay longer in London because of his ongoing treatment. He also urged President Benigno Aquino III to show compassion to his sister-in-law, former President Gloria Arroyo.
