MARIA LA DEL BARRIO is a story of a country girl name Maria Hernandez (Erich Gonzales) the daughter of the former owner of Amore Design, Sandra Hernandez(Assunta De Rossi). Much like her mother Sandra, who died years ago leaving Maria orphaned, she dreamed of having her own furniture shop. Maria grew up with Casilda Dimakulang (Ai Ai De las Alas) who is Sandra's bestfriend. One day, Casilda became ill wherein Maria is forced to find another work for her to earn money and buy medicines for Casilda. Maria met Don Fernando Dela Vega (Ian Veneracion) who is letting her work at their mansion as a housemaid. Maria then meets Don Fernando's son - Luis Dela Vega (Enchong Dee) who is going to fall in love with her even though she belongs to a poor community. As her life goes on finding a way to achieve her dreams, Maria gets to meet some people who are going to be hindrances with her dreams. They are Victoria Montenegro/Dela Vega (Angel Aquino) who is Don Fernando's wife and her mother - Sandra's rival. Soraya Montenegro (Paw Diaz) is Maria's rival towards Luis' love and attention.
